A Poll - Are You Instructed in Self Examinations?

Postby Tamsin100 » Thu May 26, 2005 2:00 pm

I've been reading the latest draft NICE recommendations on Skin disorders, specifically MM. I was interested to know how many of you already diagnosed with MM have been instructed in "self examination" ie how to look for new moles or blemishes etc., in between check ups? and I don't mean the usual bits of paper they shove at you, I mean a proper hands-on demonstration?

I've composed a poll to ascertain a quick count to get a basic idea. I hope I've set it up properly, I've not tried this before!

cheers

I've not been instructed how to self exam my moles, only my lymph nodes, which to be fair is more important to me than my moles.

My GP said I should take digital photos, but then didn't say what to look out for. I've also never had mole screening apart from that one time but that was out of common interest in mole surveilence.

I also have very little contact with dermatology in terms of my moles or "mole families" as the case maybe.
