BLACK AREA ON SKIN UNDER BIG TOE NAIL - IS IT MELANOMA?

Postby carina62 » Fri Feb 06, 2009 6:42 pm

Please help i'm really worried, my partner has been referred by his GP to see a specialist on Monday. He has what looks like a black patch/area and it looks like it's on the skin under the big toe nail, he can't remember how long it's been there but he noticed it about 2 - 3 weeks ago. The GP said it could be a possible melanoma but it could be lots of other things so it's best to rule out the serious first - does anyone think it might be a melanoma? has anyone had anything similar happen to them? any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Hi, you might get more replies if you post under the "general info about melanoma" section as we tend to post there most..

It is really scary when waiting for a possible diagnosis, but hopefully you will be able to somehow get through the next week or two and once you know, even if it does turn out to be Melanoma, it will be a bit better.

I think it is really hard to tell what things are when they are underneath a nail, so I hope this means that it is just something really boring, but that won't stop you worrying.

All the best; keep busy, and hoping for the best.
