Knees!

Postby DanCon » Wed Mar 03, 2010 5:33 pm

Hi everyone

I have just been to the consultant for my 3 monthly check up and told him of a swelling to my right knee that is just under the knee cap and a bit to the side. It is about 3 inches round. He is sending me for an MRI scan on my leg. Can anyone tell me if I will have to go right inside the tube or if just my legs will go in, has anyone had anything similar? I am being a wimp but I get panics and am clostrophobic so I nervous. Has anyone had a swelling in the same place?

Thanks
Lesley :(

Lesley,

Hope it turns out to be nothing x

When I had the MRI on my head it was just my upper half (down to about my waist) so I don't think you will have to go all the way in. It's really not too bad, you get music to listen to and they talk to you to tell you what's going on.
When you get your appointment through why don't you ring the department to check so you know what to expect and can prepare yourself.

Take care huni xx

I have just had an MRI for my knee. The 'hood' of the scanner came up as far as my chest so I wasnt fully immersed in the tube. You will have a button to push at anytime should you feel bad. It is noisy but not too bad. They are very reassuring in the scanning departments.
Good luck :)

Hi

Thanks for the info, had it done today and feel a bit silly as it was not bad at all. Mind you I would hate to have one where your whole body goes in - scary machine! Now just to wait the result
