UK Skin Cancer and Melanoma Patients

hi this site has helped me a lot, i went to docs 4 wks ago, a mole i have had changed, he said it was a melanoma, at first wondered how he could be so sure, anyway 2 wks later went to hospital and consultant confirmed it was, took it off. my appointment has now come through for monday after another 2 wk wait for stitches out and result. could it still come back its not a melanoma?, do the doctors just know by the way it looks, i am worried as i showed the same mole to a doctor 14mths ago who said it was ok..has this time frame given it chance to do more damage? by the way the mole looked the same when the other doc said it was ok..just shows you need to make sure the doctor you go to see needs to understand moles ..
