Hello All
I am a new member on this site and to this situation and wondered if anyone could please help me gather more information about my situation.
I have had a 1.7mm deep 'spitzoid' melanoma removed from my right arm just before Christmas with a further operation to remove a total of 2cm diameter tissue on Tuesday (12th Jan). The consultant has said that he will check all my moles and my lymph glands on a 3 monthly basis but as yet he hasn't done this. I have an appointment in a months time for this but am slightly worried that this will be about 6 weeks since the original mole was removed and am concerned about the cancer having spread.
Is it usual to wait this long before having my lymph nodes checked or should I perhaps ask to have this appointment brought forward or seek other professional opinions?
Also my pathologists report on the melanoma states that a spitzoid melanoma is less aggressive than a conventional melanoma of same Breslow thickness but I am having difficulty verifying this on the internet or elsewhere and to what extent. Does anyone know anything about Spitzoid melanomas and its relative aggression or could anyone point me to where I might find out?
Many many thanks in advance.
