Hi all,

We want to hear from you! Tell us what you think of the UK Melanoma Forum and what we can do to improve it for you.

We've already made some "improvements" to the UK Melanoma Forum in response to feedback we've received from some users so we hope you feel they help make the forum a better environment to share our experiences of melanoma.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Changes to Forum

Postby UK MBB Administrator » Sat Mar 13, 2004 1:54 pm

Hi again,

After our 'experiment' at adding new categories to the Forum we noticed a drop in postings so we have reverted to the old single "General Info on Melanoma" category as this seems the preferred posting option.

If anyone has any views or points you wish to discuss about making the forum better, please leave a posting here to be dicsussed.

Thanks to all who have sent us their comments.

Regards,

Would be interested to hear what others think about this.

Chat Room Idea

Postby UK MBB Administrator » Wed Mar 31, 2004 1:11 pm

Thanks for the feedback Sue.

Yes, adding a chat room facility is one of several ideas that we are currently looking at in order to develop the site for users.

It would be useful for us to know what others think as this lets us know what is worth doing or not.

Do you use any other chat rooms, what ones do you like?

What else would people like to see?

Thanks again.

Chat room

Postby Guest » Fri Oct 01, 2004 3:40 pm

I think a chat room would be a great addition to this site. A lot of people feel very anxious on diagnosis and talking to other patients may help them. Also maybe a staging chart of some sort would be useful to help people with their treatment choices.

Thanks, this is a nice site.

Developing the UK Melanoma Forum

Postby UK MBB Administrator » Tue Oct 05, 2004 6:03 pm

Thanks for all the comments.

We are considering some of these ideas as part of our plan to develop the site to provide even better information, advice and communication with, and between, melanoma patients and their carers.

We hope to implement these ideas in the near future.

Best regards,

Hi all,a chat room would be good but everyone must remember that we are individuals with different stages of MM and that treatments also differ through out the UK.I would like a GP to answer questions on this site as I feel that we would benefit from getting straight answers to our questions.

HI

I've only just logged on to this web site and had a look through and i think a chat room would be a very good idea. I am looking into using my experiences with melanoma to help other people so this would be a great way to comunicate!

I think a chat room is a great idea, although I'm a little sceptical about how much it would be used considering there are normally only 1 or 2 people on the forum at the same time. Perhaps a suggestion in a newspaper this week may help? I read about a chat room which, at set times each month, they held ‘topic discussions’. I think this would be a good focus for everyone and would possibly get the best use from the chat room. Even if we didn’t have a different topic and made it and open discussion, I think it would still be good to set up some specific times.

What do people think?

Take care,
Ruth

On another topic - In this forum we can't edit or delete our posts. I'd be more comfortable posting if I knew I could delete some of my posts as sometimes you don't want them on permanent record. Any views?

Editing/Deleting Postings

Postby UK MBB Administrator » Wed Aug 24, 2005 1:27 pm

Hi Alison,

Thank you for your comments.

In answer to your question about editing/deleting postings, the UK Melanoma Forum does not allow users to do this as a security precaution in order to prevent abuse of the postings system by malicious users.

The purpose of the UK Melanoma Forum is to allow carers and patients of melanoma to share experiences and information.

We regard all postings to have been made in good faith and consequently we would like all users to feel at ease with all comments made.

As in all discussions, if you wish to clarify a point you have made earlier then we advise that you do so in a further posting.

Please notify us if you notice any inappropriate postings and we will assess the posting for removal and notify the user of our actions and ban the user if required.

I trust this explains why we have removed user editing features in the interest of the whole community at the UK Melanoma Forum.

Kind regards,
Euan

It is not other users posts I might wish deleted. It is the fact that we may wish to bare our souls, so to speak, but not have this as a permanent record for anyone (family etc) to view forever. I would thereore be much happier if, like in some forums, we were able to delete OUR OWN posts. Some forums only allow this if there have been no replies to them. I don't see that being able to delete our own posts would create much risk of abuse?

Oh well. I guess we can't have everything.
